Born and raised in New Brunswick and Quebec City, Marlene received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Université du Québec before going on to study at the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) in Cambridge, Mass., U.S.A. She taught in the Fine Arts faculty of the Université du Québec. 

In 1993, Amnesty International chose one of her paintings for their poster. This honour was the subject of television and radio interviews and was broadcast internationally.

She had a studio in Vence, France, for eleven years and also worked in Boca Raton, Florida, in her own studio/gallery for five years. Her paintings have been exhibited regularly in Montreal, Quebec City, and Trois-Rivières, Qc. and in Boca Raton and Palm Beach, Florida, as well as in Vence, France. She has had two solo museum shows.

Marlene is now living and working in our National Capital and she appreciates the beauty of the parks, gardens and the open, creative and friendly art scene. She has also had the privilege of painting interesting portrait subjects.
